What Happens on July 23

Nice bonus, sure, but it's also the required first step for Gilded Ruin. At 12:00 p.m. Pacific Time that same day, a separate in-game challenge opens in Black Ops 7. You can't complete it beforehand, and unlocking Moonlit Pearl alone won't do the job. Players looking for the rare variant need to be online, ready, and moving through that challenge quickly once it appears.

The Numbered Camo Race

Activision is putting a hard cap on the collectible version of Gilded Ruin. The first 100,000 players worldwide who finish the challenge will get a serial number engraved on the camo, beginning at 000001 and ending at 100000. Everyone who completes it after that still earns Gilded Ruin, but without a number. Both editions carry over for use in Modern Warfare 4, so the difference is about scarcity and bragging rights rather than weapon performance.

The July chase comes after a busy stretch for the community. At New York's Fanatics Fest, held from July 16 through July 19, selected attendees got some early hands-on time with Modern Warfare 4 and tried the new Kill Block 10v10 mode. Then COD NEXT lands on August 21, with a closer look at Multiplayer expected. Pre-order customers on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC can enter the Early Access Beta right after the show. A week later, the Open Beta broadens the field and brings Nintendo Switch 2 players into the test.

The smart move is simple: confirm the digital order, install Black Ops 7 in advance, and know exactly when noon Pacific hits in your region. The numbered slots may disappear fast, especially once streamers and organised squads start pushing the challenge.
